Police – an armed future?

The recent killing of two police officers in Greater Manchester sparked sadness, horror and outrage. However, it has also re-ignited a debate on a subject many feel passionately about: whether police should carry guns.

Undoubtedly there is considerable opposition from both the police, and from members of the public. Inevitable comparisons are made with the police force in the USA, and their apparent inability to deal with volatile situations without drawing arms. Continue reading
